FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is Remedi Aqua?

Remedi Aqua is a biological water clarifier for freshwater ponds, lakes, water gardens, aquaculture systems, and other compatible water bodies. Its microbial treatment system is designed to help break down accumulated organic matter, sludge, and excess nutrients that contribute to cloudy water, unpleasant odors, and recurring algae pressure.

How does Remedi Aqua work?

Remedi Aqua introduces specialized microorganisms that support the biological breakdown of organic waste in the water column and bottom sediment. As leaves, fish waste, uneaten feed, runoff residue, and sludge are processed, the water may become clearer and the conditions feeding recurring odor and algae pressure may decrease.

Is Remedi Aqua a beneficial bacteria treatment?

Remedi Aqua is described as a probiotic or microbial water-treatment system. Unlike products that only bind suspended particles temporarily, a biological treatment is intended to support the ongoing decomposition of organic material contributing to poor water quality.

What does a biological pond clarifier do?

A biological pond clarifier helps the existing aquatic ecosystem process organic waste more efficiently. It can support clearer water, less bottom sludge, reduced organic odor, and more balanced nutrient cycling without functioning as a conventional chemical algaecide.

Is Remedi Aqua an algaecide?

No. Remedi Aqua should be positioned as a biological clarifier and water-remediation treatment—not as a chemical algaecide.

It is designed to help reduce the organic matter and excess nutrients associated with recurring algae pressure. It should not be described as killing, controlling, or preventing algae unless Remedi has the necessary product testing, labeling, and regulatory registration. EPA has previously taken action against aquarium and pond products making unregistered pesticidal algae-control claims. EPA pond-product guidance

Can Remedi Aqua clear green pond water?

Remedi Aqua may help improve green or cloudy water when excess organic matter and nutrients are contributing to the problem. Results depend on the type of algae or suspended material, nutrient inputs, water temperature, pH, circulation, dissolved oxygen, and the overall condition of the water body.

A severe bloom, harmful cyanobacteria, chemical contamination, or heavy sediment problem requires proper identification and may require professional treatment beyond a biological clarifier.

Does Remedi Aqua kill algae immediately?

No. Remedi Aqua is not an instant algae-killing chemical. Biological treatments work gradually by supporting organic-waste breakdown and improving the conditions that influence water clarity and nutrient availability.

This distinction makes the answer more credible than promising immediate algae elimination.

What is the difference between Remedi Aqua and a chemical algaecide?

A chemical algaecide directly kills or controls susceptible algae according to its registered label. Remedi Aqua takes a biological approach by addressing organic loading, sludge, and nutrient conditions that can contribute to repeated water-quality problems.

Rapidly killing a large algae population can also increase decomposition and reduce dissolved oxygen. Penn State notes that treating too much algae at once can contribute to oxygen depletion and fish loss. Penn State Extension

Is Remedi Aqua suitable for koi ponds and water gardens?

Remedi Aqua may be suitable for koi ponds, ornamental ponds, and water gardens when used at the correct rate and according to the current label. Monitor dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrite, and fish behavior during treatment.

Can Remedi Aqua be used in aquaculture and fish farms?

It is positioned for aquaculture applications, where organic loading can accumulate from feed, fish waste, and stocking density. Aquaculture treatment should be based on water volume, biomass, feeding rate, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrite, alkalinity, and operating conditions.

It should not be presented as a fish medicine, disease treatment, antibiotic replacement, or pathogen-control product without appropriate evidence and regulatory authorization.

Where can Remedi Aqua be used?

Potential applications include:

  • Freshwater ponds and small lakes
  • Koi and ornamental ponds
  • Water gardens and compatible fountains
  • Fish farms and aquaculture systems
  • Golf-course and landscape ponds
  • Farm ponds
  • Stormwater and retention ponds
  • Commercial water features
  • Other professionally evaluated freshwater systems

Every use should follow the current Remedi label and site-specific guidance.

Does Remedi Aqua replace aeration, filtration, or dredging?

No. Remedi Aqua is one component of water management. It may complement aeration, circulation, filtration, nutrient-source control, shoreline management, and mechanical sediment removal.

It cannot compensate for sewage inflow, continuous fertilizer runoff, severe erosion, toxic contamination, or extreme accumulated sediment.
