What is Remedi GROUND Powder?

Remedi GROUND Powder is a dry biological treatment formulated for petroleum hydrocarbon remediation in contaminated soil, water, and wastewater systems. It contains specialized bacterial strains selected to support biodegradation of aromatic and aliphatic petroleum hydrocarbons. It is intended for professional remediation, industrial wastewater, and site-specific biological-treatment programs.

What contaminants can GROUND Powder help treat?

GROUND Powder is intended for biological treatment of organic contaminants such as:

  • Petroleum hydrocarbons, including oil and diesel-related contamination
  • Aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon fractions
  • Fats, oils, and grease
  • Phenol-containing industrial effluents
  • Certain surfactant-rich wastewater streams
  • Organic compounds that contribute to BOD, COD, and malodor

Suitability depends on contaminant characterization, concentration, site conditions, regulatory requirements, and the
approved remediation plan.

Where can GROUND Powder be used?

Potential applications include:

  • Petroleum-contaminated soil
  • Land remediation and biopile programs
  • Municipal and industrial wastewater systems
  • Oil, gas, refinery, and heavy-industry effluents
  • Contaminated freshwater, brackish-water, and saline-water systems
  • Food-processing, dairy, bakery, and other organic-rich wastewater streams
How does GROUND Powder work?

The bacterial consortium is designed to use hydrocarbons and other biodegradable organic compounds as nutrients. The microorganisms produce enzymes that help break complex materials into smaller compounds that can be taken up and metabolized.

  • Hydrolytic enzymes help break down fats, oils, proteins, and other polymeric materials.
  • Microbial activity supports conversion of biodegradable organic compounds into biomass, carbon dioxide, and
    water.
  • An organic carrier is designed to support microbial retention and biofilm or floc formation in suitable treatment
    systems.
Should I apply GROUND Powder dry or mix it with water?

Use the application method specified by the current label and site-specific plan. The powder may be applied directly to contaminated soil or mixed with water or an approved pretreatment system for spray application.

  • For soil: incorporate the product into affected material and turn the soil as directed to support aeration.
  • For wastewater: dose at a point of good mixing, typically near the beginning of an aeration basin or designated
    treatment zone.
  • For spray application: mix according to the approved product instructions and use appropriate equipment and PPE.
What conditions help GROUND Powder perform best?

Bioremediation depends on the environment as much as the product. Biological activity is generally supported by adequate oxygen, moisture, nutrients, moderate pH, and favorable temperature.

Condition

  • Oxygen and aeration: Turn soil or maintain aeration to support aerobic biodegradation.
  • Moisture: Keep soil adequately moist but not saturated.
  • pH: Avoid strongly acidic or strongly alkaline conditions.
  • Temperature: Activity slows in cold conditions and at excessive heat.
  • Nutrients: Ensure adequate nitrogen and phosphorus for microbial growth.

The supplied data notes weaker performance below 15°C (59°F), above 40°C (104°F), below pH 4, or above pH 9.

Can GROUND Powder be used in wastewater treatment systems?

Yes. It is designed for compatible municipal and industrial wastewater systems handling hydrocarbons, phenols, fats, oils, grease, and selected surfactant-containing effluents.
For wastewater applications:

  • Dose at a location with good mixing and adequate aeration.
  • Account for hydraulic retention time so organisms can establish.
  • Avoid chlorine, biocides, or process chemicals that can inhibit biological activity.
  • Monitor BOD, COD, dissolved oxygen, pH, sludge behavior, and effluent quality.
Will GROUND Powder eliminate petroleum contamination immediately?

No. Biological remediation is a process, not an instant cleanup. The treatment rate depends on the hydrocarbon type, weathering, concentration, contaminant accessibility, soil or wastewater conditions, oxygen, moisture, temperature, nutrients, and remediation design. Use field sampling and laboratory analysis—not odor alone—to measure progress and confirm whether cleanup objectives are being met.

Does GROUND Powder replace excavation, soil removal, or treatment equipment?

No. It can be one part of a remediation strategy. Some sites still require excavation, containment, recovery of free product, aeration, soil turning, nutrient adjustment, wastewater pretreatment, or other engineered controls. Follow all site permits, cleanup standards, waste-management requirements, and directions from the responsible environmental professional.

Is GROUND Powder safe to handle?

Follow the current product label and Safety Data Sheet. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and dry-product handling practices, and avoid generating or inhaling dust. Because petroleum contaminated soil and wastewater can present their own health, fire, and regulatory hazards, conduct work under an approved health-and-safety plan. Do not make antimicrobial, human-health, or environmental-safety claims beyond the final product label and supporting documentation.
